Big Zone Cyclo Dextrin (formerly Cluster Dextrin) is a patented designer carbohydrate whose correct name is “highly branched cyclic dextrin”. We still use the sought-after branded raw material Cluster Dextrin® for our product. Cluster Dextrin® is a polymer made up of more than 900 glucose molecules, which has a relatively high molecular mass due to its cyclic structure and therefore a comparatively low osmolarity. This means that it requires less water to move through the digestive tract than other carbohydrates [1] . Athletes in many sports therefore describe that the use of Cluster Dextrin® is comparatively well tolerated. But why do they use such a product? Physical training undoubtedly leads to increased consumption of energy and nutrients. During intensive strength training, an increased anaerobic metabolism occurs, which means that carbohydrates are primarily used to generate energy. The ingestion of carbohydrate solutions may therefore contribute to improving physical performance during high-intensity and prolonged exercise in exercising adults [2] . Likewise, it has been shown that solutions of carbohydrates and electrolytes can contribute to the maintenance of endurance performance during long-term endurance training as well as the absorption of water during physical training [3] . That's why many of our athletes combine Big Zone Cyclo Dextrin with our Bulletproof EAAs, which contain additional electrolytes in addition to all 9 essential amino acids. As if these weren't reasons enough to rely on carbohydrates in liquid form, especially during training, they also contribute to the regeneration of normal muscular function after high-intensity training, which has led to muscular exhaustion and the emptying of glycogen stores in the skeletal muscles [4] .
How to take Big Zone Cyclo Dextrin?
The amount required is highly individual and depends on various factors such as body weight, goals and diet. We recommend mixing the BigZone Cyclo Dextrin with at least 10 times the amount of water and preferably consuming it before, during or after training.
