An important part of our digestion is the breakdown of food into smaller components to make them bioavailable for the body. For example, the steak with rice has to be attacked and broken down by enzymes in different systems such as the stomach or intestines so that amino acids, peptides, glucose and fatty acids can ultimately pass through the intestines and be absorbed into the bloodstream.
