ALA is a vitamin-like antioxidant. The alpha lipoic acid produced in the human body is also found in broccoli, spinach, yeast, potatoes, carrots, beetroot and red meat. Although the human body is able to synthesize alpha lipoic acid in small amounts, it is recommended to take it as a supplement. Many are convinced that ALA is the ideal antioxidant because it dissolves equally well in fat and water. For an antioxidant effect, a daily dose of 200-300 mg is required.
